Workshop for Journalists Organised
Scribes should work for social change: Gokhale
Aurangabad, July 6: The president of Community Aid and Sponsorship Programme (CASP), Dr.Sharatchandra Gokhale, stressed the need for a joint front of the journalists, voluntary organizations and a CASP media desk, to raise the social issues and problems. He was speaking at a workshop of journalists organized by the CASP, CASP-PLAN and District Information Office.
Dr.Gokhale said that the scribes should change their attitude and try to work for social change. They should realize their worth to change the society, he said.
Dr.Gokhale also released a book `Madhyam Drishti Kshep written by Dr.V.L.Dharurkar of Department of Journalism, Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. Dr. Sudhakar Pawar and the district information officer, Mr.Prashant Daithankar were the chief guests. Thirty-five representatives of various newspapers participated in the workshop.
Mr. Satish Kamat of CASP said that the district newspapers and electronic media working at the district level play an important tantrole in the societys development. They should work in collaboration with the local organizations who work for the progress of the society.
On the occasion, Mr.Sanjeev Unhale of Maharashtra Times was felicitated for his institution `Dilasa bagging the Vasantrao Naik Pratisthan Krushi Paurav Puraskar (Award). Mr.Unhale narrated his experiences of working in rural areas. He said instead of following the Western concept of womens freedom, we should liberate the women by giving her more opportunities and her works.
