High light of the activities from April 06 Mach07
Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) and Pre School :

Awareness sessions on ECCD were organized in the community with Care givers, Grand Parents, siblings and parents.. Exposure visit to Urmal Bazzu and Zindal Grameen Jan Kalyan sansthan was organized for ECCD communicators and Pre school Teachers.

ECCD training modules were developed in Hindi for 0-3 and 3-6 years. In this process ECCD communicators, Pre-school teachers, Program Officer ECCD TOT team and a team of experts from UNMESH were involved.

Two-day workshop was organized with ECCD Communicators on ECCD module. Special focus was on nutrition and growth monitoring, how to conduct FGDs in the community and how to respond the queries of the participants. ECCD Coordinators and Program Officer organized the training.

Two day training was organized for the ECCD communicators on growth monitoring, and supervision of ECCD program. The training was conducted by Society for cosmic vision, one of the resource person was from NIPCD.

Supplies were made available to CBOs and Pre-school teachers celebrated the festival of Dashara and Diwali in all the pre-school centers, Non Formal Education Centre and Special Education Centre. Children of special education centre prepared gel candles and greeting cards, Nav Prbaht Abhibhavak Sangh participated in Diwali Fair and raised fund of approximately Rs. 2000/-.

28 Pre-schools were started in the program area through one Community Based Organization. Approximately 1680 children between the age of 3 to 5 years old are enrolled.
- A film was made on ECCD by children of Bal Panchayat.

CASP-Plan organized ten-day workshop for Pre-school children to provide appropriate opportunity and atmosphere for creative expression and nurturing
“Creative Talent” among children. Hundred children between the age of 4to5 years attended the workshop. Children participated in different activities like , Puppet, marble Painting, Mask Making, Puppet, Dance and Drama along with daily exercise on music. On 11 th Day final show was organized, children performed their dance, folk-song on the stage. An exhibition was also organized to display the creative work done by children during the workshop. The Area Counselor, was invited as chief Guest. He also visited other activities of CASP- Plan and issued the order to MCD Deptt. For cleaning the area nearby clinic on regular bases. The workshop was organized in the Govt. Primary School Badarpur.
- Gender sensitization programme was organized for adolescents by Peer Educators and counseling services provided to 40 families by Family counselor.
Non Formal Education and Primary Education :

School Quality survey and assessment was done of 6 Primary school. Major findings of the study are-Toilet and drinking water needs to improvement, Library facilities needed to be enhanced, counseling services should be provided, PTA should be strengthen.

Five meetings with Primary school teachers were organized in three schools. the main issues were functioning of PTA, Library, teachers training and teaching aid, water and sanitation. PU has planned an exposure visit to Sahibabad to visit training centrs of JP group Meeting with Govt. Teachers was organized to discuss about establishment of Library in MCD Primary School , Madanpur Khadar . Teachers have given their request for library infrastructure, stationary and books. If we get good response and willingness among the teachers we may extend this project in other schools.

Hundred children benefited from Two Non-Formal Centres in Badarpur area.

Three-day workshop was organized on BCC for the NFE teachers, teachers of special education centre and their parents. The workshop was directed to cover the curriculum in relation to normal children and their parents and specific focus was paid to the parents / teachers of special education centre.
Special Education Centre :

A survey was conducted in madanpur Khadar and Badarpur to identify differently abled children . Out of 2838 families, 217 families had members who are differently abled. The analysis of these families had been done separately.

Five day training for TOT Team was organized on early interventions with differently- abled children through Four steps. TOT team further organized 40 sessions with women. Linkages and networks being strengthened with NIMH, Ankur, NAB for admission of children from the centre for children with special needs. 7 children appeared for an entrance exam and have been given admission in NIMH. Uniform for the children is being provided by the CBO.
Parent Teacher meeting of differently able children was organized. It was decided that every day father or mother of one child would work at the center. Teachers and children will be making candles in the center to sale during Diwali festival. Seven children are regularly going to NIMH. Twelve children are identified with different disability in Madanpur Khadar, their assessment will be done in Sept. 06.

Five children from Badarpur area participated in special Olympic organized at Jamia Millia Islamia . Three children got Gold Medal, and two, silverMedal. Children from eight special schools participated in this event. They further participated in the sports event at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium.

A meet was organized with children with special need, their parents and govt. schoolteacher. Lator on higher authorities were approached and finally we got the approval and they allowed us to start the interventions in Govt. school, they have given one hall in the school.
Rights of The Child ( ROC) :
Awareness on United Nation's Conventions on Rights of the child (CRC) should be part of the curriculum.

There is a need to initiate debate on the Rights of the child at National, state and local level. Awareness sessions through wall paintings, stickers, and rallies were organized. Three day zonal workshop on rights of the child was organized. Two meetings with parents were conducted.

Two- day workshop on Radio Program was organized for 105 children of Bal Panchayat. Children from the Media group received training in developing radio programmes.

Bal Panchayat orgnazed five parents meetings to sensitize parents on “child protection” about 147 parents participated in these meeting.

Three day follow-up training on PRA was organized, Ms. Paramjeet Kaur , director Ashraya Adhikar Abhiyan facilitated the training. They discussed the issues, which they faced in the field at the time of implementation of PRA techniques based on first training.Twenty children attended the training.

Health :

In collaboration with Govt.we are providing vaccines to children/pregnant women. This project is for the population of 100000/Supplementary nutrition/weaning food was given to 1920 children enrolled in pre-school. Growth monitoring of pre-school children was done. About 30% children were found under malnourished /CASP Plan in Badarpur area is running one clinic. About 200 clients were registered in the clinic.

IEC on child to child health was developed . Review and planning workshop was organized . Awareness session was organized by TOT in the community/FGD with youths on on HIV/AIDS. Meeting with Govt. teachers was organisex and assessment of awareness level in the Govt. schools of students of 11 th and 12 th classes.

Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were organized with pregnant mothers, about 500 women participated in 25 interactive FGDs topics like, safe delivery, danger signs during prenatal, natal and post natal period, nutrition and do & dont's during pregnancy. Present status of delivery practices was also documented for analysis.

10 interactive sessions were organized for mother in laws, relatives or neighbours who are keen to help of these pregnant women. In Sangam Vihar, most of the families are nuclear type.

Three FGDs with eligible women were organized in Sangam Vihar on Family Planning methods. These sessions were conducted by CHWs.

PU is implementing immunization project in collaboration with Directorate of Family Welfare during the month 629 children under 5 years were vaccinated in the program area.
Community Organization and Livelihood :

Training to CBO members and onsite support was provided to 2CBO /On site support to 2CBOs was provided for developing action Plan for the future. Fund raising and resource management.. Training on Accounts, Right to information and urban good Governance was imparted to CBO members.

CBO manual was developed with lot of discussion with CBO members through facilitation of CASP Plan. Every aspects like conducting meeting, Election procedure for electing members of Executive council, Planning, monitoring, Budgeting, Record keeping, legal formalities etc are included in the module to guide the Community Based Organization for working in the interest of community development. This module will help in enhancing the capacity of the members of CBO.

Three day training based on SWOT analysis to the members of Self Help Groups was organized. 25 girls completed the course of beautician conducted through Jan shikshan Sansthan.20 boys completed the computer course.

Two-day workshop on Behaviour Change Communication was organized in which 55 children participated. Sessions on Concept of BCC and skill development were conducted. Role-play, group discussion and lecture methods were used.

CASP-Plan got into an agreement with ICDS to supply nutrition to 301Anganwadies in Sangam Vihar through four SHGs. Nutrition supply started from July 1st, 2006 and has continued throughout the month. Several review meetings have been attended with the Joint Director, ICDS to discuss operational issues.
