Programme Activities in year 2006-2007
CASP is initiating a list of programmes for the sponsored children, which is a part of the development of the child, Family and the community. Following are some programmes and activities organized by CASP in the year 2006-2007.
Vocational Training :
CASP initiated various career guidance and vocational training programmes for the young boys and girls, aiming at their upgrading of the knowledge system regarding various options in their career. This also helped them to identify their skills and area of interest so that they can choose a right career.
Beauty Culture Training :
Beauty culture training is aiming on the training of interested girls in the field of beauty. The training room is arranged like a beauty parlour with all the equipments and materials so that the girls can learn all processes involved in a beauty parlour. This will help the girls to start their own parlour or help them to get some jobs in parlour. The duration of course is 6 months. 60 girls are making use of the program in three different batches.
Computer Training :
CASP established a computer-training center at Madanpur Khadar in collaboration with ‘ India habitat Learning Center '. 80 students are enrolled for one year Basic computer course with special English classes; they are also getting opportunity to explore Internet in this Learning Center . Computer has become an essential part of any job, it is very important for all the children to have the basic knowledge of computing. This programme would be helpful for children their career and job opportunities.
Photography Training :
Photography training was provided to 8 sponsor children by professional trainers. CASP sent these children to various historical places in Delhi for practice photography and displayed their photographs work in an exhibition. This is also another programme which helps in development of photography skills is the children. Children were very enthusiastic in taking part in this training.

Career guidance
Career in Army :
A career guidance programme was conducted for the children who are seeking a career in ARMY. A retired Army Official facilitated the program. This was aimed at making the children aware about the opportunities in ARMY. Different options were given, like joining army after 10 th std or 12 th std. Another option is after graduation you can directly join as an officer in ARMY by passing the examination like CDS, NDA etc. The program was very much informative for the children.
Career Guidance Workshop :
Career guidance Workshop was arranged for the sponsored children who have passed 10 th and 12 th std. This was aimed at making children aware about the various options in front of them and to choose the right and appropriate one for their career. Dr. Ranjana Kaul (Chairperson, CASP Delhi unit) also facilitated one session of this workshop.
Workshops/Trainings
Family Life Education Workshop :
Family Life Education Workshop was organization for sponsor children in collaboration with Modi Care Foundation. 60 Adolescent boys & girls participated in this workshop. Deal with peer pressure, Myths & Misconception related to growing–up, important of responsible sexual behaviour were the main topics addressed in this workshop.
Theater workshop :
10 days theater workshop was organized for sponsored children. In this workshop professional trainers prepared sponsored children for a play on social issues and child rights. This programme was aimed at training skilled and interested children for performing some skits and street plays among the community members. This has been a powerful and easy tool of communication. After getting trained children performed eight street plays in different parts of the community.
Creative workshop :
CASP organized two weeks creativity workshop in the community. In which 120 children participated. In this workshop they learnt paper craft, candle making, glass painting, puppet making, water painting, drawing and tie & die work. Children enjoyed a lot in this workshop as they learnt beautiful craft work in a playing manner.
Folk Dance Workshop :
One-month training workshop on regional Folk dances of different states of India was also organized for sponsor children. In this workshop 60 children participated, and were prepared to perform seven-dance items. Celebration of Important Days.
Youth Day Celebration :
CASP celebrated youth day on 12 th January at popular temple in Delhi . Quiz, Debates, Song and Dance programmes were organized on the occasion in which 80 sponsored children from CASP participated. There was a provision of open stage where children were free to express their views on social issues, children liked it very much and expressed their view very confidently.
World AIDS Day Celebration :
CASP celebrated World AIDS Day .On the occasion poster competition, T-Shirt competition and Slogan competition were organized in which children participated with great interest. This program has been aimed at making the children aware about HIV/AIDS, which will definitely contribute to the information dissemination and stigma reduction.

Health Programme
Women Health Camp (Stree Shakti Camp) :
CASP organized women health camps under ‘Bhagidari Scheme', Delhi Govt. Qualified doctors conducted health check ups for women and medicines were distributed in the camp. Health education was provided to these ignorant and illiterate women in order to make them aware of health issues and nutritious food. Child care knowledge was also provided to these women in the camp.
Mobile Dental Camp :
CASP organized Mobile Dental Camp for sponsored children. Free dental services were provided to the community in this camp. People got treated with latest equipments in this camp. Around 200 children got benefited with this camp. It was also aimed at making people aware about dental care.
Medical Insurance Policy :
CASP initiated Medical Claim health Policy for the sponsored children and their family. This is focussing on providing necessary support in maintaining their health. People in the slum area are more prone to diseases. Since they are not able to pay for the medicines, CASP through Medical Reimbursement facility, motivating them to take treatment of their diseases and get the reimbursement from the insurance company. CASP is also initiating regular health check-up for the child and his/her family.
Mobile Dental Camp :
CASP organized Mobile Dental Camp for sponsored children. Free dental services were provided to the community in this camp. People got treated with latest equipments in this camp. Around 200 children got benefited with this camp. It was also aimed at making people aware about dental care.

Educational Services
Supplementary Education :
CASP organized supplementary educational classes for sponsored children. This programme is designed considering the importance of continuous progress in the education of the child and lack of proper attention from the school. Children are given added attention from tutors especially those who are weak in their studies.370 children were benefited with this program.
Re-admission of dropout girls :
Keeping in mind the importance of education and working for the educational development, CASP has made arrangements for re-admission of dropout girls. 18 dropout girls were admitted to open school in 8 th std.
Pre-examination Counselling :
These days's examinations have become a horror dream for the children. Examination fear has become an added instrument of stress in the children, part from the stress they get from family and teachers . Considering these issues CASP has arranged counselling services for the 10 th and 12 th std students before board examinations with the help of professional counsellors. CASP provided sample papers and helping books to the participants.
Support for ITI Entrance :
A counselling session for the entrance exam of ITI was conducted for the sponsored children out of whom 18 children appeared for the examinations. 17 have cleared the entrance test and one girl got 16 th Rank.
Fu nctional Literacy :
CASP initiated functional literacy for women in collaboration with Habitat Learning Centre. The literacy classes are provided with the aim to empower the women. These classes are held on a regular basis. 20 women are taking part in the programme.

Competitions and Cultural programmes
Painting and Dance competition :
As a result of workshops and training program 3 children participated in painting competition and six girls participated in dance competition at Inter agency competition, Jamia Milla University Delhi. It was a joyful moment for the CASP that these children have become capable of competing with the other children. Folk dance performed by our children got 2 nd prize. These types of programmes have always become successful in boosting up the various skills in children.
JHANKAR (Inter state Dance Program) :
CASP organized an interstate cultural program titled ‘Jhankar' for the sponsored children at LTG Auditorium on 26 th Feb 2007 . Including 13 children from Gujarat , a total of 63 children participated in the folk dance programme. It was a one hour program in which 8 dances were performed. It was really a memorable moment for the children and whole CASP team. It was also a venue for the interaction with other children.
Exhibitory Programmes
Exhibition :
CASP organized an exhibition at Dilli Haat in the month of July. Hand made tie & die products, wax candles, glass paintings and Madhubani paintings etc were displayed and sold in the camp. The camp was arranged in the initiation of the children itself. Children have taken initiative of explaining the items and selling it. These types of programmes have been motivating children to be part of the activities like clay modeling, painting etc.
Delhi Legal service Authority (Annual Function) :
60 children and 70 women from CASP participated in annual function of Delhi Legal Service Authority on 10 th Nov 2006 . Children of CASP also get the chance to perform a play on Child Rights. This focused on making the children and their family aware about the Child Rights.
Yuva-Utsav(YMCA) :
CASP sponsored children participated in Yuva-Utsav organized by YMCA on 29 th Nov 2006 . Children from CASP participated in various competitions like Pot Painting, Rangoli(designing on the floor with colours), Skits, Solo-dance performance etc. This program also played an important role in bringing out various skills in children. All the children enjoyed a lot. 20 children participated in the program.

Exposure visits and Picnics
CASP is taking the sponsored children to various picnic spots, historical places, adventure places in order to provide them a recreation from the stressful life. It is not possible of their families to take them to different places. It is a fact that most of them have not visited the places in Delhi itself. This is not only a recreation program but also a learning opportunity for the children.
The children were taken to the following places during this year.
160 children enjoyed the trip to Bombay circus on 16th Nov.
Almost 250 sponsored children went to Lodi Garden and Children's Park.
120 children participated in ‘ Gandhi Smriti Darshan '- Digital learning about the life and history of Mahatma Gandhi.
50 children took part in the two days Adventure camp to Indira Gandhi Holiday Home (Dum-Duma) in February 2007.
Networking
Networking is an important tool of transfer of information, which is valuable for all the organizations in the network. Networking has always supported the organization in bringing up some programmes and their implementation giving a more qualitative outcome than individual initiative. As part of networking with other organization in the area, CASP has organized a meeting of all the Non-Governmental organizations in Madanpur Khadar area on 19 th Feb 2007 for the smooth functioning of various programs in the area.
Child Right Programme :
AS part of the networking with the other organizations working in Madanpur Khadar,CASP took out a ‘Bal Adhikar Yatra' at Madanpur Khadar on 14 th November. A play was organized on education and social issues related to it on the occasion. Skits, songs Slogans related to education, Child rights and education were the main focus of the program.

Success Stories
Janki(15321) :
Janki has been getting assistance from CASP since 1996, she has been very bright in her studies. She had scored 77% marks in 12th std. With the support and initiative of CASP she has given the entrance examinations of ITI and scored 16 th rank. She has taken admission for Modern Office Practice. She is also pursuing B.Com through correspondence.
Sudha(15410) :
Sudha has been getting assistance from CASP since1997. She had properly made use of the support. She completed her graduation in Chemistry with 84% of marks and is pursuing her Post Graduation in Chemistry. Apart from all these CASP is going forward with the sponsorship program, Progress reports, Case Histories, Distribution of study materials, Home visits, School visits, counselling etc.
