The woods are lovely, dark and deep,.

But I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep…………… Robert Frost

These famous words of Robert Frost brings to the minds of all who have associated with CASP the promises that we have fulfilled for the children and the promises to be fulfilled. Children have to be nutured in the right manner to grow up as worthy human beings and in this Jubilee year of CASP & Rajagiri College collaboration we look back with pride and gratitude at all the inummerable occasions and moments when we have been abundantly blessed. No stone has been left unturned and no effort has been spared in this hard path that we tread. With renewed strength and newer concepts we work for the children hoping that we at Rajagiri -CASP Sponsorship Project will be instrumental in making the quality of lives of the under privileged children better.

Observance of World Aids Day

Today HIV/AIDS is a blight on modern society. The pandemic is disseminating communities and the cost, in terms of human misery is huge. The theme for World AIDS Day 2006 was ‘Accountability'. The goal underscoring this year's theme is enhancing accountability from political leaders on their promise on AIDS, supporting a broad movement of civil society, organizing campaign to develop their sense of joint identity and common purpose. Generating a greater public awareness of and engagement with the problem of AIDS worldwide.

In lieu of this, the World AIDS Day was observed which marked to express our solidarity and stand in combating HIV/AIDS- a global threat. The day's theme, which was selected, was “CARE NOT SCARE”, which can be explained by the line: ‘A cheerful heart does the work of a tonic'.

The day's activity started with the distribution of the red ribbon by the student volunteers, to each and every member around Rajagiri campus, showing our support for over 40 million people across the world who are living with a disease for which there is no cure. 3 programmes were held simultaneously- The exhibition, held at the Auditorium of Rajagiri Public School; A Seminar, held in the Golden Aureole and the Valedictory function, held in Rajagiri Higher Secondary School .

Following is a brief account of the day long programme :

Exhibition

The first programme was the poster competition on AIDS which was indeed a highlight of the day. The exhibition was held in the auditorium of Rajagiri Public School . The posters, which were exhibited, were those received from students all over Kerala who had participated in The All Kerala Poster Design, Talent Search and Exhibition, 2006. A total of 200 posters were exhibited. Out of which 65 of them were made by the students of Rajagiri School . All the selected posters were displayed at the venue from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm .The theme that was given to the children was the significance of the date i.e., 1 st December and the 2006 World AIDS Day Theme. All these posters depicted of how AIDS have gripped the entire world, its inhuman face and also about the devastating effects it has on mankind.

Seminar

The seminar was conducted in the Golden Aureole auditorium at Rajagiri College . The auditorium was full to the brim with most of the audience comprising of students and professionals working in this field. The inaugural function started with a prayer song, which was followed by the welcome speech given by Dr.Joseph I Injodey, who stressed on the importance of the day. Later the Chief Guest , Mr.P.V.Abdul Wahab MP formally inaugurated the programme and gave his inaugural address. He started with the narration of Buddha 's life, who renounced his luxurious life to attain nirvana. Life is surrounded with pleasure, pain and suffering and the responsibility to safeguard one's body is the major aspect and a matter of concern.
