CASP Mumbai Unit works preferably for child, family and community development. We are working for under privileged children from all over Mumbai without any discrimination of caste, colour or religion. With continuous devotion, dedication and guidance of our esteemed Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, our Staff and generous support from our Donors, we are glad to state that we are successfully implementing various programmes in the field of urban community development. As on today, we are helping and supporting 2036 children and also elderly people, women and girls in the area of child education, Nutrition, Health and psycho-social support and community development. We are highlighting the programmes under CASP Mumbai Unit.
1. Sponsorship Programme :
Sponsorship programme funded by Indian/Foreign Individuals and Indian/Foreign Agencies. The number of sponsored children with category wise as on 31st December 2009, are as follows :-

a) Educational Aid Disbursement : According to the need of beneficiaries, we used to provide educational aid to sponsored children like School uniform, bag, umbrella, stationary materials like compass box, colour box, pen, pencil etc. to continue the education of sponsored children smoothly.
b) Health check-up Programme : The routine general health check-up Programme is being organised every year for sponsored children. On the basis of doctor report the prescribed treatment i.e. medicines, pathological tests are being provided to the children to maintain the normal health.
c) Personality Development and Recreational Programme : As a part and parcel of Personality Development Programme and Recreational Programme; picnics, get together functions of sponsored children and their families, Children Day Celebration, etc. are being organised for sponsored children for their overall development of children.

2. Foster Care Project (Bal sangopan Yojana) :
CASP has been associated with Women and Child Development Department of Government of Maharashtra through foster care scheme since 2007. The project is implemented for orphans, single parental children, working children, street children, children of Prisoners under going life imprisonment etc. The children are being supported for their education, health, nutrition and other requisite support to achieve the overall development of children.
Total 500 children are the beneficiaries of this scheme.
3. Bal Panchayat for sponsored children :
CASP Mumbai Unit has established five Bal Panchayats comprising of 15 sponsored children. The objective of this activity to make the children aware of child rights and sensitize the issue of child rights among children and community.
The Bal Panchayat consists of President, Secretary, Treasurer, members etc. The children have started their activities in their community and school level like personal hygiene, awareness regarding drug addiction, communicable disease, child marriage, etc.

5. Women Empowerment through Self help groups
Total four Self Help Groups of women are active in different parts of project area. Each group is having 15 to 20 women and they have their president, secretary, treasurer and members to see the routine activities. The objective of this activity is to empower the women through Self Help groups to enhance their quality of life.
SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME WITH COLLABORATION WITH NGOS :
Mumbai Port Trust - This is a unique scheme run by CASP Mumbai for the benefit of disabled children of employees of Mumbai Port Trust (MPT). Mumbai is one of the premier ports of India and the project is administered by Mumbai Port Trust whose trustees are appointed by Government of India. CASP Mumbai Unit had made the efforts to sponsor Physically handicapped children of employees of Mumbai Port Trust since 1980 till today. At present there are 15 physically handicapped children of MPT employees under sponsorship programme. An objective of this project is that real success is not merely in terms of financial help extended by organizing medical check-up camps, providing appliances, arranging picnics, cultural programmes etc. to improve quality of life of these children. The social, psychological support and guidance provided by the social workers of CASP is the real benefit received by the children and their family members. The real testimony of the success of the project was when the parent's requested the Mumbai Port Trust authorities to continue the project with CASP alone.
Nanhi Kali Project - CASP is associated with K.C. Mahindra Education Trust, Mumbai since 1999-2000. This is a project called "Nanhi Kali" The Trust insists to select small girl children for sponsorship programme. The Trust has sponsored 200 Nanhi Kalies from Worli and Girgaon areas of Mumbai. The main objective of the project is to support the girl children for their education, health and other requisite support.

Meritorious Project - Sponsored by A.C. International Child Support, Denmark This project is sponsored by A.C. International Child Support, Denmark . CASP Mumbai Unit has selected 50 meritorious children those are scholar and could not afford to continue their Higher education i.e. Engineering, Medical etc. due to their poor financial condition. We are utilizing the development funds for educational expenses of 50 meritorious children
Objective : To provide the financial support to meritorious children to complete their higher education.

Akshaya was under CASP sponsorship programme since 2003-04. At that time Akshaya was 15years old and studying in 11th Std. science stream in Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala Colloge Ghatkopar, Mumbai. Her case was selected under sponsorship aid programme for her good scholastic performance and also her family's poor economic condition. The family consists of five members; parents and their three children. Father is working as a security guard and mother is a housewife. Akshaya was recommended for the sponsorship aid by the social worker because she was passionate about her studied and scored 85% marks in her 10th Std Examination in March 2002. She got 66.33% marks in her 12th Std. Examination in Feb 2005. Then she completed her graduation B.Sc. with stastics as a special subject in the year 2008-09. After her graduation she completed a course of Actuaries Science for six months. She has also passed MSCIT with 82% marks. Now Akshaya is working as an Analyst in GeBBS Healthcare Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai and earns Rs.10000/- per month. She has also taken admission in M.Sc Computer Science. Now, she stands on her own feet and also helping her parents financially.

Deepak's case was sanctioned in the year 2003, under Meritorious project, when he had passed 10 th standard Board Examination with 90.66% marks. He had taken admission in 11th standard science stream at D. G. Ruparel college of Arts, Commerce & Science. In 2004, he had passed 12th standard Board Examination with 94% marks and stood 11 th in Mumbai Board merit list. Then, he has taken admission for Mechanical Engineering Degree course at Sardar Patel College of Engineering. He has passed B.E. Mechanical Examination with distinction. He secured 82.69% marks. Now, he is working in Tata Power Co. as Mechanical Engineer and he is earning Rs.21000/- p.m. His family consists of his parents and younger brother. His parents are staying at Satara and working on farms. His younger brother Nilesh is studying in F.Y.B.A. Deepak and his family are very much thankful to CASP for their valuable support.
3) The Family, WHO'S FATHER, had deserted them, when her daughter was in the lap of her mother and desperate to hold the hands of her father and pampered by him, that girl, today becomes a Doctor.

Meenal is 23 years old girl. She is under CASP sponsorship programme, since 2000, when she was studying in 9th Std. in Chembur High School. Her case was sanctioned due to poor economic condition and good scholastic performance. Now, Sujata has completed MBBS from Grant Medical College, Sir J.J Group of Hospital. Her result was declared on 19th August 2009 and she got 1 st class. She is doing her Internship of one year through Medical College, Sir J.J Group of Hospital. Meenal wants to be a specialized doctor and devote her life to poor people. She is getting stipend of Rs.2000/- per month. Meenal's family consists of her mother, two elder sisters and she herself. Her father deserted the family from last 23 years. Meenal is the youngest child in the family. Meenal's elder sister, Manisha has completed her Engineering in Information Technology and working in a company and other sister is working in a State Bank of India .
Meenal is very much thankful to CASP and her sponsor, with their valuable support and today she is independent.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES :

Children of Bal Panchayat

a) Day Care Centres for Sr. Citizens - CASP Mumbai Unit is implementing three Day Care Centres for Sr.Citizens with the generous support of Bombay Community Public Trust, Mumbai and A.C.International Child Support, Denmark.
- Day Care Centre for 45 Sr. Citrizens at Sai Baba Temple Hall, Near Golphadevi Temple, Worli Koliwada, Mumbai.
- Day Care Centre for 38 Sr. Citizens at Fisherman Colony at Mahim, Mumbai.
- Day Care Centre for 35 Sr. Citizens at Indira Gandhi Mahila Vikas Kendra, Marol PipeLine, J. B. Nagar, Andheri.
The main objectives of these activities are -
- To maintain the normal health of Senior Citizens
- To provide psychological support to Senior Citizens
- To update their general knowledge from time to time
The efforts are being made to develop this project by organizing various programmes i.e.
- Medical check-up of Sr.Citizen i.e General Health check-up and special check-up ie. Blood Pressure, Diabetes and ENT.
- Daily nutrition programme.
- Recreational Programme i.e. sports competition, film show, Songs and Bhajans, Celebration of Birthdays, Picnic.
- Daily Yoga sessions.
- Exposure Visits.
- Income Generation Activity i.e. incense stick making and paper bag making.
b) Training in tailoring for Women/girls -
Objective : To provide the skill training i.e. tailoring to increase the family's income
Tailoring Unit is being conducted at Indira Gandhi Mahila Vikas Kendra , Andheri. In all total 16 girls/women are attending tailoring class. Social worker keeps regular follow up of the course and motivates sponsored and non-sponsored girls for the said course. The instructor provides stitching training to the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries learnt to stitch baby frock, kids wear, salwar Kurta. blouses and petticoat. The said activity runs everyday from 12.30 pm to 3.00 p.m. The above mentioned activity is being conducted since last 5 years. In all total 150 women/girls have been trained in stitching and majority of the women have started their own business at home and supports their families livelihood.These trained women/girls get the certificate after the completion of this course.
c) Balwadi - CASP Mumbai Unit runs a Balwadi for 3 to 5 years children at Indira Gandhi Mahila Vikas Kendra, Andheri. The 22 children attends pre-school (Balwadi). The Balwadi teacher takes efforts to create interest among children and to provide education through different teaching aids and playschool methods. All children enjoy the pre-school education.
d) Vocational Training in Different skills - The following three courses are being implemented with the financial support of Larsen & Toubro Public Charitable Trust, Mumbai.
- Computer Education : The Computer Education for drop out girl children is being conducted at Indira Gandhi Mahila Vikas Kendra, Marol, Andheri (E) Mumbai. The twenty needy and deserving girl/women are getting computer education. The duration for the Computer Education is for one year. The timing is from 7.30 a.m to 9.30a.m. The following topics are being covered -

The ten needy and deserving girls/women are enrolled for the Beautician course. The duration for the Beautician course is for six months. The timing is from 2.00p.m to 4.00p.m.
