CASP Raigad unit under CASP Mumbai unit has carried out the following activities from April 09 till date, under the able guidance of Chairperson Mrs. Sudhatai Joshi.

Distribution of Educational Aid 2009-10 : The ninety day care center children sponsored by Enfant du Monde, France were given the educational aid which consisted of school uniform, school bag, books, stationery, drawing book, crayons, raincoat, slate with pencil box etc. This educational aid was distributed in their respective areas at Vavoshi, Narangi and Gorthan. All the children were very happy to receive the educational aid.

New Cases : We are very much thankful to GIVE INDIA for supporting 51 children through Sponsorship aid. We are also very much thankful to Captain Ashok Tamhane for donating Rs. 2,50,000/- for sponsoring twelve children and Rs. 1,00,000/- for development of tribal children.

Day Care Centers Vavoshi, Narangi & Shirki : The Day care center reopened from the month of July 2009. The children of the upper group were renewed and refreshed after a long summer vacation. The new admissions for lower group were also done. Independence day was celebrated in all three day care centers on 15th August, 2009. The teachers explained the importance of the day in a simple manner to the children. Sweets were distributed to the children after that. Nagpanchami celebrations were also held in the month of August 2009. The children wore colorful dresses and worshipped the clay idol of snake. They were given sweets prepared from desiccated coconut and sugar. The Day care centers also celebrated the Ashadi Ekadashi in the month of July 2009, through a traditional procession within the village. The children wore colorful traditional dresses. The parents also participated in the procession. “Prasad” was also distributed to everybody.










 


Dahi Handi celebrations were also conducted in all three Day care centers on August 2009. An earthen clay pot was decorated with fruits, curd, flowers as per the Indian tradition. The little children of DCC dressed up as Lord Krishna and broke the clay pot which was hung by a rope, through a human pyramid. All the children listened curiously to the stories narrated by the Development promoter related to the childhood of Lord Krishna. Everybody had fruits and sweets and enjoyed the occasion very much. The children of the Day care center get nutritious food everyday which is prepared hygienically by the DCC attendant. The children like the food very much. They enjoy good health due to the nutritious food given to them. The height and weight monitoring of the children is done after every three months.

Study Center at Gorthan : Shri. B. G. Deshmukh Sir donated generously for the study center at Gorthan. After the summer vacation Study Center at Gorthan reopened on 16th June 09. In all 75 children from the community attend the study Center regularly. Ms Ashwini Kadam ( Ex Sponsored girl) supervises the study Center. In the month of June 09, the study Center was provided with the books (From 1st to 10th std 1 set each), guides, dictionaries, Essay books etc. Ms Neeraja Deo visits the study center at regular intervals. Once again all the staff member of Raigad and the villagers thank Shri. B. G. Deshmukh Sir wholeheartedly for his strong support.  We will make the best possible use of the amount for the betterment of the children as we hope that it may also increase their reading and writing skills.

Day Care Center for Senior Citizens : A Day Care Center for Senior Citizens started from 17th June 2009 at Nandimal Naka, Pen. As per our survey of senior citizens, we realized that at Nandimal Naka area of Pen there are large number of Senior citizens as compared to other areas. So It was decided to start this project at Nandimal Naka at Nagarpalika Primary School No. 2. We approached Mr. Santosh Shringarpure President-Pen Municipal Corporation, who has generously given a classroom in the above school free of charge. CASP Raigad unit is very much thankful to him. Total 35 Senior citizens attend this Center. Mr. Kiran Kadam is appointed as a Instructor of Senior Citizens Center. Opening ceremony was held through the hands of One of the Senior Citizen present on the occasion. Co-ordinator Mrs. Nivedita Thakor introduced herself and explained the theme of this project. Then Development Promoter Ms. Manisha Pradhan explained the aims and objectives of this project. All the senior citizens were happy with this idea. We have given potato wafers,sweets and tea.This project runs for five days in a week. We offer Snacks and tea to every senior citizen everyday. We have appointed Mrs. Vandana Kainkar ( Mother of Sponsored child) to prepare the snacks and tea. We have planned to take a medical check up and Yoga Sessions of these Senior Citizens next month. In the month of July all senior citizens celebrated ‘Ashadhi Ekadashi' by worshipping ‘God Vitthal & Rakhumai' in the class and also arranged ‘Dindi' upto the temple of God Vitthal. All the members were very much happy with this programme and sang various Bhajans while going to the temple.













In the second week of July we had arranged Yoga session for senior citizens. Mr. Manish Upadyay, who is the yoga expert, has taught them various exercises according to their age. In the month of July all senior citizens celebrated 'Ashadhi Ekadashi' by worshipping ‘God Vitthal & Rakhumai' in the class and also arranged ‘Dindi' upto the temple of God Vitthal. All the members were very much happy with this programme and sang various Bhajans while going to the temple. In the first week of August (i.e. in the month of Shrawan, according to our Hindu calendar) we have arranged ‘Bhajan, programme for the entertainment of them. Ganubuwa Kadam and his team presented various Bhaktigeets, Bhajans along with various musical instruments i. e. tabala Dholak, Harmonium etc.

In the second week of August we had arranged medical check-up camp for our senior citizens. Dr. Keskar a famous pathologist checked blood sugar of all members. Dr. Mahendra Patil, M. D. checked all members and suggested E.C.G to some of them. He prescribed a general tonic to all of them and we have provided it through CASP.We feel happy to note here that the blood sugar taste of all the senior citizens and the E.C.G. of some of them (as suggested by the Doctor) have been provided free of cost. During Ganpati festival we had arranged two vikram rickshaws for all members to show public Ganpati places in our Pen town. All members were very happy because due to old age they all were unable to go such a long distance for watching Ganpanti festivals. During Navratri festival i.e. in the month of September we had arranged their visit to famous temple of Goddess Amba at village Vashi which is 10 kilometers away from Pen town.

Initiating Bal Panchayat Activities : A meeting was conducted on 4th Dec 2009 in Village – Kandale regarding formation of Bal Panchayat. Mrs. Rashmi Shirhatti Dy ED (Programmes) from Pune HO, Mrs. Nivedita Thakor Co-ordinator CASP Raigad Unit, Mrs Manisha Pradhan and Mrs. Neeraja Deo, Development Promoter were present for the meeting. 20 children from village Kandale were present for the meeting. Out of these 20 children, 15 children between the age group of 9 to 16 were selected for the Bal Panchayat Activity. Mrs Rashmi Shirhatti explained in detail regarding the objective of the formation of Bal Panchayat, the procedure to form Bal Panchayat, the working of Bal Panchayat etc.

The children enthusiastically participated in the meeting and given a positive response. Accordingly on 12th Dec the group of children conducted a meeting among themselves and elected two children as President and Vice President of Bal Panchayat Group. To start with, these children decided to clean the port yards in front of their houses. Form the next week they have started the work of Cleaning the Village. On 22nd Dec. 2009 three children from village Kandale and Two children from village Shirvali and Gorthan alongwith Ms. Manisha Pradhan and Ms.Neeraja Deo Development Promoters visited Pune for the workshop conducted on Bal Panchayat and Child Rights.

Sports Competitions of Non Sponsored Children under CCCD (Child Centered Community Development) -








On 22nd Dec 2009 Sports Competitions were held in Raigad Zilla Parishad Kandale. In all children from 10 Raigad Zilla Parishad schools participated in the various competitions such as story telling, dramatics, traditional group songs etc. In sports competitions Kabbadi, 100 meter running, 200 meter running competitions were held. Children from village Ambeghar, Bori, Wadkhal, Vashi Vadhav, Kandale, Kandalepada,Uchede, Umbarde,Dhavate, Ganpatiwadi etc were participated in the competitions. In order to give encouragement to the hidden talents of these children, CASP had distributed prizes (trophies,dictionaries and Geometrical compass boxes for the first, second and third prize respectively and 2 pens for each participant winner of group events).

Formation of Self Help Group -








A meeting was held by Ms. Manisha Pradhan in village Kandale regarding the formation of Self Help Group. Ms. Pradhan had given the primary information for the formation of Self Help Group. In all 21 women were present. All the women had given their consent for the formation of SHG and were eager to form the group. On 4th Dec 2009 the second meeting was held at village Kandale regarding the formation of SHG. Ms Rashmi Shirhatti Dy ED (Programmes) guided the women regarding the objective and benefits of formation of SHG. Accordingly two groups having 17 women each in the group are formed on 24th Dec 2009. i.e. Shri Jugadevi Mahila Bachat Group Kandale and gavdevi Bachat Group Kandale. The Bank accounts of these groups have been opened in Bank of Maharashtra Pen branch.

Future Plan -

  • Awareness and medical check camps for women above 40 under CCCD.
  • Educational support to needy and deserving children under AC Development Fund.
  • Medical check up of Senior citizens.
  • Need assessment of tribal children.
  • Formation of new balpanchayat and Self Help Groups.
  • Need based support to School infrastructure.
